The basics
Are you a lawyer?
No. Nothing on this site is legal advice, and buying a download does not create an attorney–client relationship. The materials are organisational tools — letters, trackers, worksheets and references.
Is the store open?
Not yet. The product pages describe what each download contains so you can see exactly what you'd be buying, but checkout is not connected. The free guides and reference pages are live and complete.
What do I actually get?
Files you keep — PDF, and where a document is meant to be filled in, DOCX and XLSX as well. Each product page lists the files inside it and the version and date they were last updated.
Coverage
Which states are covered?
South Carolina, with Clarendon County complete down to every municipality. Other counties and states go live one at a time, as each is researched against the body's own published information. A county is not listed as live until it has actually been checked.
How do you decide what's next?
Requests from the mailing list, mostly. If you say where you are, that county moves up the list.
Why don't the pages name the officials?
Because names change with every election and a stale name is worse than no name. Pages name the office, which is what a records request has to be addressed to anyway.
Using the downloads
Can I share a file with my office?
The standard licence is for one person's own use, including their own matters and their own organisation's requests. It does not cover redistributing the file, reselling it, or handing it to other organisations. If you need it across a team, write and ask — that's a different licence, not a refusal.
Can I adapt the letters?
Yes. They're meant to be edited. That's the point of shipping them in DOCX.
What about refunds?
A file that's broken, missing or not what the page described is replaced or refunded. Beyond that, digital downloads are final once downloaded. The full wording is on the terms page.
Accuracy
How do I know a page is current?
Every reference page shows the date its facts were verified and the date it is due for review, with the sources listed underneath. If a review date has passed, that is visible to you, not hidden.
Something is wrong. What do I do?
Write to tricia@peoplesdata.shop with the page and what changed. Corrections are made at the source and the verification date is reset.
Why don't the pages quote deadlines and fees?
Because they haven't all been checked against the current statute yet, and a wrong deadline is the kind of error that costs somebody a case. They'll be added once verified, not before.
